‘Exploring the Ballpoint’ is not a mere ‘how to draw’ book. It goes beyond the technique and sets an example of exploring a medium of a ballpoint pen. Shirish Deshpande gives a rich experience of line, texture, and nuanced colors out of a ballpoint pen in his portraits and landscapes. Like an engraving or etching, it produces a unique quality of a drawing or print.

‘Exploring the Ballpoint’

Hello Shirish,

Have been wanting to reach out to you for a long time. Yes not only did I get the book, but you will be absolutely thrilled to know that my son began to implement some of the concepts within the next hour. So it is so amazing to see new sparks and for that, I want to thank you profusely. We (and he in particular) have been observing each of the pictures with such great keenness.

This was a gift from me to my family, and to say that was well-received is an absolute understatement, and for that Thank you :) Looking forward to more such inspiration.

Dear friends,

I recently ordered Shirish sir’s book on ballpoint pen art. It’s a wonderful endeavor by sir, he takes you through different stages of using ballpoint pens for paintings, from choosing the pens to the final work. I genuinely felt that it could be used by anyone, even someone who is completely new to art but wants just to try something. Ballpoint is also not a common medium and it’s hard to get guidance on how to use them and the techniques.

Thanks a lot, sir 😊

It is such a treasure to have a signed copy of the ‘EXPLORING THE BALLPOINT’ book by our very own Shirish Deshpande, an eminent artist from Belgaum, a tremendous master artist of ballpoint pen art. This is a beautiful book by him, which contains the guidance and techniques of rendering with a ballpoint pen in step by step process.
